Clinic Overview
Our vision of this clinic is twofold: first of all, we want to give our students the opportunity to enhance their massage therapy practical skills and knowledge base by giving supervised treatments to the public. Secondly, we hope that through this process, the public will gain greater awarness and thereby, become more educated about the benefits that massage therapy can bring to our community.
What should I expect in a Massage Treatment?
On your first visit to our clinic, please arrive about 10-15 minutes before your scheduled time. Our receptionist will ask you to fill out a detailed case history form that will ask you questions about your current lifestyle and any past or present illness or injuries. Your therapist will use this form to do a short interview to assess your areas of complaint or injury and use it to help determine the treatment plan for you during your massage. The therapist will also likely perform some orthopedic testing or assessment tests to isolate the problem areas to ensure that there is no possible other causes for the problem.
When the treatment plan is determined, your therapist will give you a general description of what will take place and then ask for your permission to start. Once given, they will leave the space in order for you to dress down to whatever level you are comfortable with, to position yourself on the table and get comfortable.
The hands-on portion of the massage takes place with as much or as little communication as the client desires. Your therapist will inquire about pressure and comfort levels throughout the treatment. They will be asking permission to undrape the areas they are about to work on but generally do not chat their way through a treatment unless asked questions by you.
At the end of the treatment your therapist will inform you as to what they found during the massage and give you some recommendations regarding stretches, follow-up home care, and whether they believe a return visit is in order for you to achieve your health goals. The entire process will take approximately 50 minutes. The fee is $20.00 (cash only).
Guidelines for Receiving a Massage Treatment

What should I expect in a Hydrotherapy Treatment?
It is important to note that you will need to receive at least ONE regular massage treatment before trying any of the hydrotherapy treatments, due to their more potent effects on the body systems.
- Each hydrotherapy treatment has different aspects of healing for the body and your therapist can recommend the most appropriate treatment for your particular complaints.
- The interview, assessment and informed consent components of the regular massage treatment are also part of the Hydrotherapy treatments. As well, the wrap up and home care are incorporated into the treatments also.
