Admission Seminar
All candidates need to attend a one-day introductory seminar/workshop for massage therapy. Seminars are usually scheduled on Saturdays (9-5 pm) and the fee is $75.00 (cdn). For more information regarding upcoming dates, please contact the school at (306) 955-1616.
Entrance Requirements
- 18 years of age at the program start date (applicants under 18 years of age may commence the training with a parental waiver)
- A grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of biology 30 or chemistry 30 with a minimum 65% average
- Attendance/participation at our Introductory Massage Therapy Seminar/Workshop (1 day) download seminar forms
- A completed application package submitted with required supporting documentation
- English proficiency (written and oral) required
- Requirements may be modified on a case-by-case basis
Prior Learning Assessment Recognition (PLAR)
or Transfer Credit Policy
Our program welcomes candidates applying for PLAR or transfer credits. Please contact the registrar to arrange to discuss your learning portfolio with the program director (educational background, massage therapy and health-related work or volunteer experience and previous life experience.) Each candidate's application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Transfer credits are generally approved once the candidate has demonstrated competency standards in specified courses or terms of study by challenging our comprehensive written and/or oral-practical exams (additional fees.)
Financial Assistance
MCKAY CAREER TRAINING students have access to several types of funding options. Our Career Counsellor possesses over 20 years of experience and knowledge about the procedures and policies of the Canada Student Loan program. With her expertise and the support of our Student Financial Advisor, the college provides optimum financial guidance to all of our applicants. McKay Career Training Inc. is a designated educational institution for Canada-Saskatchewan Integrated Student Loans for full-time and part-time Canada Student Loans.
Canada Student Loan financial aid is available to qualified applicants registered in a post-secondary program:
- Applications are always available at the college and our counsellors guide and instruct all of their students about the program and personally will assistant them in filling out the forms.
- Loan applicants who qualify may have attainability to a variety of grants (learning disabilities, mental and/or physical medical conditions.)
- Out-of-province residents are those persons who have not lived in Saskatchewan for a 12-month period prior to their start date. These applicants will be required to apply for the loan program from the last province they resided in for 12 months. McKay Career Training Inc. has access to those loans and our counsellors are also knowledgeable about these programs.
Student Line of Credit is a loan program available at numerous banking institutions; interest rates and grace paying periods after graduation vary. To apply, students must have a letter of acceptance from the college.
Unemployment Insurance Claimants may be considered for funding towards education fees for post-secondary training:

- Reachback Program
All applicants must arrange to meet with a career employment consultant in person at the Canada-Saskatchewan Career & Employment Services office nearest to your community. Should you qualify, our career counsellor will be able to help you with this process.
McKay Career Training has partnered with the following agencies, giving a broader range of funding choices:
Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI) offers to persons of Métis decent an opportunity to apply for funding through the GDI office in your area.
They have offices in:
Saskatoon, Regina, North Battleford, Nipawin, Ile a la Crosse, Prince Albert, Yorkton, Meadow Lake and LaLoche with Employment Counsellors who can assist
you with your action plan and career goals.
Saskatoon Tribal Council Urban & First Nations Agencies have granted financial support to their clients to become students here. All applicants must receive guidance from the post-secondary coordinators of each specific band. Applying early in the calendar year is essential.
PARENTS INFORMATION:
Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP) and a variety of "scholarship trust funds" can be released for use towards your children’s education with our college. Parental Funded payment plans may be arranged for your adult children with our Student Finance Advisor.
MORE OPTIONS FOR ADULT LEARNERS:
Saskatchewan Worker’s Compensation - claimants who have to retrain because of their injuries have chosen to train with McKay Career Training Inc. The client
must work directly with their Vocational Rehabilitation Worker.
Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) - "The LLP allows you to withdraw an amount from your registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs) to finance training or education for you or your spouse. You do not have to include the withdrawn amount in your income, and the RRSP issuer will not withhold tax on these amounts. You have to repay these withdrawals to your RRSPs over a period of no more than 10 years." These quotes have been taken from the Canada Custom and Revenue Agency guide. www.ccra.gc.ca
